Gurley House
207 W. Third St., Princeton 936-4141
Bob and Pat Gurley present the Gurley House in Princeton for your wedding, reception, rehearsal dinner, luncheon, shower, anniversary or birthday party, class or family reunion, corporate meeting, community function or holiday celebration.
Bob and Patricia Gurley opened Gurley House & Titia's Garden in downtown Princeton in June.
His parents, Carl and Titia Gurley, passed away, and he did not want to sell or rent the historical home. He came up with the idea for a reception hall, since the house has large rooms and a large yard landscaped with azaleas and camellias.
"We did extensive renovations in early 2007 and had our first event — a wedding reception — on June 9. We rent the facility for weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, luncheons, showers, anniversary and birthday parties, class and family reunions, corporate meetings, community functions or holiday celebrations to mention just a few," Gurley said.
The house has 2,764 square feet of inside space and another 1,672 square feet of covered porches and finished garage space. The kitchen is large, 16 feet by 28 feet, and it is very caterer-friendly. Rectangular tables are available. And there is an acre of landscaped lawn suitable for outside events with or without tents.
"We offer a setting of southern charm and hospitality," Gurley says. "The Gurley House continues the family sense of warmth and cordiality for our guests. We offer a home like setting for our guests' special occasions."
The Gurleys have endeavored to create a space that is elegant yet comfortable. "We strive to make our guests' experience with us a pleasant one that meets or exceeds their expectations," he says.
Long-range goals include renovating three upstairs bedrooms and bath for out of town guests who attend events at Gurley House.
The Gurley family has lived in Princeton since the 1800s and in the Gurley House since 1921. The house has been renovated three times. Each time, the improvements have been in keeping with the Gurleys' sense of family and hospitality. "We want to continue to offer these traditions to our guests from Princeton and surrounding communities," Gurley says.
