Walk into Oasis Salon and Day Spa and you won't be thinking about your job or the kids anymore.

Sounds of soothing music fill the air and the atmosphere is relaxing and calming.

And that is just what Nadia Al-Awar envisioned when she opened Oasis in January 2006 — a place for her clients to come and get away from the stresses of their day.

It was her lifelong dream to provide quality skin care to make people look and feel better about themselves.

She named her business "Oasis" because she wanted it to be a relaxing place, where customers could pamper themselves. Clients are treated to coffee, herb tea or Mediterranean refreshments, upon request, while receiving luxurious personal care services. Mrs. Al-Awar said she enjoys pampering people of all ages.

Mrs. Al-Awar is the skin care specialist at Oasis.

Working with her to serve the salon's clients are color specialists Gail Gottshall and Karen Byars, hair care specialist Stephanie Vicars and licensed massage therapist Liz Hummel (N.C . 7213).

The crew at Oasis provides full-service hair care and does cuts, highlights, lowlights, styling, manicures, pedicures, waxing, ear candling, body treatments like wraps and scrubs and facials. Massage is available in 30-minute, 60-minute and 90-minute sessions.
