A teacher was killed in a highway accident in Goldsboro today, and her 12-year-old daughter was injured.
School officials identified the teacher as Henrietta Meeks, who taught communication skills at Mount Olive Middle School.
Wayne County emergency personnel, inside the car, assist the driver after Goldsboro firemen cut away the driver's side door to remove the victim. Also involved in the accident was a truck carrying timber.
Her daughter, Jamie Meeks, was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital. Her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
The wreck happened before school opened this morning. Mrs. Meeks' westbound car was struck by a northbound tractor-trailer truck at the intersection of Elm Street and the Martin Luther King Expressway South near the National Guard Armory.
Details of the accident were not immediately available.
