FREMONT -- Two people were stabbed Tuesday on Union Grove Church Road, and a man was arrested Wednesday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with the assault.
The victims -- Teresa Blackmon McCallister, 41, and Michael Carl Collier, 42 -- were listed in stable condition Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Ms. McCallister had stab wounds to her hands, throat and neck. Collier had stab wounds to his back.
When patrol deputies answered a 911 call to the home, the victims identified their attacker as an acquaintance, Roger Sutton, 32, of Hinnant Road in Pikeville. Detectives learned Wednesday that Sutton could be found at a home near LaGrange. He was arrested without incident.
Sutton was charged with two felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill while inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under $50,000 secured bond.
Additional charges will be sought through grand jury indictments, said Capt. George Raecher.
