Erica Davidson of Durham was named the winner of the "Gimme the Mike" competition Wednesday night on WRAZ-TV in Raleigh.
In the second season of the state's version of "American Idol," 20 contenders vied for a trip to New York to meet with record producers, a chance to record a song at Osceola Records in Raleigh, and perform at Alltel Pavillion there.
Two contestants from Wayne County had been part of the competition. Daniel Johnson of Goldsboro was one of six finalists, having won the first night's competition. Meghann Flores of Dudley had been named a "wild card" contestant, chosen the second night by Internet vote, but did not continue to the final round.
