Pikeville and Berkeley Mall are asking Wayne County commissioners for permission to host a fireworks display to celebrate Independence Day.
The board is expected to approve the resolution that would allow the town to hold a public celebration on July 2, complete with fireworks.
The mall will have its fireworks on July 4, if approved.
Commissioners are scheduled to hold a public hearing Tuesday morning at 9:15 on a zoning request.
The request is for 2.3 acres, currently zoned residential agricultural, on the north side of Community Drive. Glenn Elam, property owner, is asking it be rezoned to community shopping center.
The formal board meeting begins at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners meeting room in the Wayne County Courthouse annex.
Commissioners will also have a budget work session after the regular board meeting.
