Bicyclist killed by truck on U.S. 13

A 21-year-old man was killed Thursday night after his bicycle was struck by a tractor-trailer truck on U.S. 13 South, the Highway Patrol said.
The victim was identified as Douglas Alan Harrell of 147 Hood Drive.
The collision occurred at about 9:30 p.m. near Durham Lake Road, about two miles south of Goldsboro, a patrol spokesman said.
The identity of the trucker had not been released by the Highway Patrol. He was driving a Pate-Dawson Company truck.
No charges have been filed. The investigating trooper had not finished his report at mid-morning.
The highway death was the 14th this year on Wayne County roads.
Harrell was the son of Jim and Beverly Harrell of the home. Funeral arrangements are pending.
