No, Goldsboro is not in the middle of a heat wave.
Drivers on Berkeley Boulevard might be a little disoriented by the new time and temperature sign in front of the News-Argus. Crews installed a new LED display this week but the sign's temperature sensors are malfunctioning and the sign has indicated temperatures of as high as 118 degrees at times.
Michael Stewart, the newspaper's production manager, said new parts have been ordered and should arrive within a couple of days.
The sign was changed because the old display could not be upgraded, Stewart said. The new display is brighter and can be read from farther away, he said.
