GOP convention Saturday

The Wayne County Republican Party has a wide array of speakers planned for its annual convention, which will be held Saturday at the Wayne Center at the corner of Chestnut and George streets.
Third District Congressman Walter B. Jones, for Sen. Lauch Faircloth, state Sen. Fred Smith, state Auditor Les Merritt, state party chairman Linad Daves, Republican Joint Caucus leader Dale Folwell and House Minority Leader Skip Stam are among the dignitaries who are expected to attend.
Registration starts at 8 a.m., with the convention starting at 9. Cost is $5.
Delegates for the state convention, as well as the 1st and 3rd congressional districts will be chosen.
