The Village of Walnut Creek has a new face behind the window at Town Hall. Walnut Creek resident Cathy Woodson has been named the new village clerk.
Longtime village clerk Sandra Allen submitted her resignation to the village council earlier this year, and in October, Denise Kagel was named the new clerk.
But a few days later, Ms. Kagel told Village Administrator Lou Cook that the job just wouldn't work out. Cook offered the job to Mrs. Woodson accepted.
Her husband, Harry "Woody" Woodson, is a reservist who had the chance to go to Atlanta or Goldsboro, and he chose Goldsboro. Ms. Woodson said she is glad he did.
"I fell in love with Goldsboro right away," she said. "I mean, right away. I have never been anywhere where people open their arms and make you feel as warm and welcome, and are genuine about it."
