FREMONT -- An early morning fire at 305 North Street in Fremont put itself out before any damage occurred to the apartment.
Fremont Fire Chief Don Wilkins said the alarm went off at 6:07 a.m., but by the time firefighters arrived, the fire had put itself out. Wilkins said some debris had fallen into the heating element on the heat and air conditioning unit, caught fire and shorted out the system. The fire pumped smoke into the apartment, but Wilkins said no damage resulted, and nobody was injured.
