Wayne County man dies in crash on U.S. 117

A two-vehicle collision that left a Wayne County man dead Thursday is still under investigation and State Highway Patrol officials are asking the public for help.
Sgt. R.P. Hooks said the incident occurred at a stoplight near the intersection of US-117 South and old Grantham Road around 5 p.m., and involved a 1955 Chevrolet pickup and 1995 Ford pickup.
"We are looking for anybody who might have witnessed it," Hooks said. "We have conflicting stories."
The driver of one of the vehicles was killed in the crash, but officials have not yet released his name.
Anyone who witnessed or has information about the wreck is asked to contact the Highway Patrol at 731-7960.
