Interstate 40 West at Exit 355 (N.C. 403), about three miles west of Faison, will be closed for bridge repairs during two night next week.
It will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2 until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, and again from 11 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, until 5 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4.
The closures are necessary to perform repairs where a truck hit the bridge span in June.
Motorists traveling on I-40 West will be detoured onto the exit ramp and then continuing on to I-40 West.
The N.C. State Highway Patrol will direct N.C. 403 traffic.
N.C. Department of Transportation officials remind motorists to stay alert and encourages motorists to use alternate routes when possible during this period, drive with caution, obey the posted speed limits and allow for extra travel time.
