LOOKING A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS ALREADY: Armando Ruiz uses a trimmer to shape up a Christmas tree on the Teri-Jim Tree Farm on Ruskin Road in Dudley last week. With the holidays coming up, tree farmers are hoping a sagging economy will not slow sales of fresh trees. North Carolina tree growers produce one-fourth of all the Christmas trees grown in the United States. More than 90 percent of the trees grown here are Fraser Firs.
