Attorney David Rouse was named Boss of the Year at the American Business Women's Association's Boss Night recently.
He was nominated by member Jo Ann Summerlin.
The speaker for the event was Linda Greenwood, associate professor and adjunct part-time at Mount Olive College. She teaches business communication. She also teaches classes at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
Mrs. Greenwood talked about resumes and keeping them current. She said there are three purposes for this -- a job change, to ask for a promotion or to ask for a raise.
Details are important in a resume. Be specific, state what you have accomplished on your job, state whether you have computer skills and also list organizations that you belong to.
She cautioned not to use office e-mail to apply for a job and be sure to attach a cover letter.
The next meeting will be March 5 at 6 p.m. at Goldsboro Country Club.
