Central/EW alumni set weekend gatherings

Central/Eastern Wayne Alumni and Friends will observe its 37th annual homecoming this weekend, with events scheduled Friday through Sunday.
The classes of 1939, 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999 and 2009 will be honored.
The alumni banquet will be Friday night, starting at 7 at Best Grove Missionary Baptist Church. The guest speaker will be Marvin B. Adams of Ellenwood, Ga., a member of the Class of '69.
A fellowship hour will follow the banquet at Quality Inn and Suites.
On Saturday, events begin with a Dutch breakfast at 9 a.m. at Madison's Restaurant. Saturday's parade will be held at noon in the Central Heights community. Lineup will begin at 11 a.m. at Eastern Wayne Middle School.
A picnic will be held at the school at 1 p.m., with dinner served from 2-3:30 p.m. Tickets are $15. A hospitality hour will be held at 9 p.m. at Quality Inn and Suites. Tickets are $15.
An alumni chapter will worship Sunday at Atkinson Missionary Baptist Church at 11 a.m. An awards/gospel program will be held at Woods Chapel Free Will Baptist Church at 5 p.m., with Joyce Parks Jones of Lumberton delivering a tribute to scholarship recipients and retirees. She is a member of the class of '59.
