Junior Dail, left, with the Goldsboro Parks and Recreation Department, and Hal Forrester, with the Goldsboro Kiwanis Club, lay down new tracks for the Kiwanis train at Herman Park on Tuesday. Forrester said that until this recent project began -- at the behest of state officials -- the tracks had never been replaced in their 55 years. "It's a major overhaul," he said. "We took up all the old track and put down a new bed, new cross ties and new rails." The goal is to be done in March, in time for the April opening, with a Golden Spike Ceremony planned.
