Vandals hit cemetery's main statue

A marble statue of Jesus lies on the ground in pieces at Evergreen Cemetery on U.S. 70 West after it was overturned between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, when the damage was discovered by a cemetery employee.

A large, white marble Italian-made statue of Jesus valued at $20,000 was destroyed when vandals toppled it at Evergreen Cemetery west of Goldsboro over the weekend. The falling statue also did $8,000 damage to a nearby marble retaining wall....
