At 2:35 a.m. Saturday morning Kenneth Wooten, 815 1/2 E. Walnut St, called 911 to report a fire in a neighboring apartment. Mr. Wooten was awakened minutes earlier by the smell of smoke and witnessed flames in the adjacent apartment. The fire, extinguished by the fire department and investigated by the assistant chief, has been initially ruled suspicious.
Michael Barbour, 700 block North Jackson Street, reported to Goldsboro police the theft of a VIP Scooter from behind his residence. An unknown subject absconded with the scooter without Barbour's knowledge or permission.
A red Honda 4-wheeler was stolen Saturday from the parking lot of the Hampton Inn on Spence Avenue. Michael Sterling Krickovic, of Mechanicsville, Va., told police his vehicle was removed from its trailer and that in commission of the theft his company vehicle was damaged.
Goldsboro police are investigating the theft of a gray 2007 Suzuki Forenza. Mary Walker, 1000 block East Mulberry Street, told officers Saturday that an unknown subject jumped into her still-running vehicle and drove off as she entered her home. According to a report from the Goldsboro Police Department a black 2006 Chevy Impala was stolen Sunday. The vehicle, belonging to Lannel McKennie, was being driven by a Maddox and carrying one passenger. After leaving a home on the 1800 block of South Slocumb Street, they returned to the residence. A tan Mercury pulled in behind them and an unknown black man, armed with a handgun, approached the Impala. Maddox and the passenger fled and witnessed both vehicles being driven away.
