Scratch-off swindle

An employee of the Kangaroo convenience store at 2007 Wayne Memorial Drive thought she was doing the right thing Saturday when she received a call from a man pretending to be a service technician with Pre Solutions, a lottery ticket machine company.

The employee was told to activate three Green Dot MoneyPak cards on the store's machine, and read to him the numbers. He said he would fax over a confirmation letter stating that the machines had been reactivated.

The caller was an impostor and the store manager later discovered that the scam netted the con artist $1,499. Goldsboro police are investigating.

Armed robbery

Police are investigating a robbery assault that took place Sunday in the 700 block of N. George Street. The victim, Felip Cisneros, 34, 300 block Forest Knolls Road, was robbed at gun point, forced to remove his clothes, and then struck on the head with the butt of the pistol.

According to the report Cisneros was taken to Wayne Memorial for treatment of his injuries. The suspect, who may have had a female with him at the time of the robbery, got away with $60 in currency, as well as the victim's shirt, shorts and shoes.
