For the past several months, there have been fewer F-15E Strike Eagles on the runway -- fewer of the airmen who command them working within the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base gates.
But sometime in the next few weeks, both the aircraft and the men and women who guide them through the skies will return to Wayne County.
4th Fighter Wing officials confirmed that members of the 336th Fighter Squadron are scheduled to return from theater before Thanksgiving.
And while they would not say just where they have been -- or what their mission entailed -- those with knowledge of what has transpired during their stint overseas said the Rocketeers lived up to the standard that has been set by 4th air crews for decades.
