A shooting that resulted in members of the Goldsboro Police Department investigating the parking lot at the Lighthouse Food Mart on Herman Street late Friday morning actually unfolded along the 1700 block of Slocumb Street.
A 32-year-old Goldsboro resident was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital after a bullet pierced through the door of the rental car he was riding in.
Antonio Demetrius Hardy told local lawmen that he was riding in the vehicle when a bullet struck him in the right shin -- and that he and driver, Aaron Matthew Garrett, 20, drove to the Lighthouse Food Mart before pulling over and "flagging down" an ambulance.
Investigators, as of Saturday evening, had made no arrests in the shooting, but should they, the person responsible will be charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property and damage to property.
Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255.
