The public is invited to a welcome home reception for Goldsboro's top 10 "American Idol" contestant, Majesty Rose, at the Goldsboro Family YMCA Preschool Thursday.
Majesty will be available at the reception, set for noon to 2 p.m. at the preschool at 900 S. Harding Drive, to take photos, to sign autographs and to speak with members of the community.
"The party is being put together by the same committee that has been working together on the events all along," city of Goldsboro public information officer Kim Best said. "I'm not gonna say this is the very last thing. We would love to plan out many more events with her, but she also has quite a few opportunities by making the top 10 finalists."
Majesty Rose will come into town for the party from New York City on a short break from her media tour to spend time in the community that has so strongly supported her through her "American Idol" bid.
"There is not a true agenda for the party, it's more like a rolling reception," Mrs. Best said. "This way people can come in and see Majesty and take a picture with her, then more people can come through. We'll give her a chance to speak and just say whatever she has been wanting to say."
The remainder of the "Majesty Mania" gear given away at the viewing parties will be available as long as supplies last to be given out for Majesty to sign.
"The first about 75 people will get the Majesty heads on a stick that we have been giving out, because that is all we have left," Mrs. Best said. "We'll have our photo backdrop set up for people to take pictures with Majesty and speak with her as well."
The public can bring along other items for Rose to sign.
The time for the reception is limited to two hours to work with Majesty's schedule but that time might be extended if there is still a strong crowd at 2 p.m., Mrs. Best said.
"She has other obligations that day as well," she said.
Refreshments will be available at the reception courtesy of the past event sponsors who provided food for the viewing parties.
Sponsors include Chick-fil-A, Pizza Inn, Zaxby's, Jersey Mike's Subs and Coca-Cola.
"We still haven't heard from a few, but there may be others," Mrs. Best said.
Overflow parking will be available at the Goldsboro Family Y soccer fields past the preschool on Harding Drive.
"Majesty chose to have the party at the preschool to get back to her kids," Mrs. Best said. "She really wanted to get back to her preschoolers."
Majesty failed to secure the "American Idol" judges' only save for the season and was eliminated last week.
She finished ninth in the contest.
Ahead of her as a top 10 contestant is a full media and concert tour with the other "American Idol" contestants.
