PRINCETON - Betty Ruth Mumford, age 64 died peacefully at her home on Thursday morning.
Born December 23, 1939, in Johnston County to Martha Howell Mumford and the late John Alden Mumford, she was preceded in death by a brother, Luther C. Mumford. Betty was a member of the Princeton Baptist Church. She worked in the housekeeping department of Wayne Memorial Hospital for many years having accumulated a years worth of sick and vacation time before she quit. While there she was awarded several merit awards for being the best housekeeper.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Princeton with her aunt, Mary Crockett, officiating. Mrs. Crockett will be assisted by Dr. Horace Ricks, the Rev. Don Price and Betty's pastor, the Rev. Lee Eames. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. The burial will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Surviving along with her mother is a sister, Faye Mumford of the home.
