Marion Lamont Sherrod, 57, of 405 N. Leslie St., died Sunday at South Side Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Burning Bush Holy Church. Elder Arto Pickett will officiate. Burial will be in Hodges-Armwood Family Cemetery.
Mr. Sherrod was the son of Celestine Sherrod of Mount Olive and the late Ivey Lee Sherrod. He graduated from Hargrove High School in Faison, served two years in the Army, and retired from the National Guard. He also worked as a truck driver for Auto Truck Transport.
In addition to his mother he is survived by one son, Marion Sherrod Jr. of Raleigh; three brothers, Adolph Sherrod of Bakersfield, Calif., Kenneth Sherrod of Dudley and Leonard D. Sherrod of Mount Olive; four sisters, Gloriestine Sherrod, Angela Massey of Durham, Joyce Walker of Burgaw and Betty Sutton of Dudley; and one granddaughter.
The viewing hours will be from 3 until 7 p.m. on Friday at Rhodes & Powell Funeral Home in Mount Olive, and his family will receive friends there from 7 until 8 on Friday night.
