TURKEY -- Richard Harold Clifton Sr., 85, of 8370 Turkey Hwy., died Tuesday at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Turkey Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial will be in Turkey Cemetery.

Born in Sampson County, Mr. Clifton was the son of the late Harvey and Bevie Carroll Clifton. He was a member of Turkey Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and its board of deacons. He was a retired member of the Turkey Volunteer Fire Department and a retired pipe welder.

He is survived by his wife, Lovesteen Parker Clifton; three daughters: Joan C. Bordeaux and Betty C. Hall of Turkey and Wanda C. Powell of Clinton; one son, Richard H. Clifton Jr. of Turkey; four sisters, Ruth King of Lake Hamilton, Fla., Jewell Sutton of Clinton, Joyce Kornegey of Raleigh and Elgie Dickans of Frankfort, N.Y.; two brothers, Eugene Clifton of Laurinburg and Carliss Clifton of Goldsboro; and five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at Royal-Hall Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Turkey Volunteer Fire Department, 390 Faison Road, Turkey, N.C., 28393.
