Jasper Pate, 87, of 301 Patetown Road, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. Pate was born in Wayne County and was the son of the late Jack Pate and Bessie Newman Pate. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Company and attended Oak Heights Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Poythress Pate; three daughters, Peggy Anderson of Alice, Texas and Brenda Perry and Betty Lou Etheridge of Goldsboro; his grandchildren, Randy Hinson, Bobby Hinson, Darlene Hinson, Michelle Anderson, Melissa Etheridge, David Etheridge, Keith Gray, Sandra Duke, Joey Duke, Jordan Duke, Alex Etheridge, Kayla Anderson, Brittiany Anderson and Jacob Anderson; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
