Teresa Gurley Mercer died Saturday at her home.

Mrs. Mercer was a native of Wayne County and was the daughter of the late David E. Gurley, Sr. and Elizabeth C. Gurley.

A funeral service will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home with Pastor Barry Williamson officiating. Interment will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Mercer; two sons, Matt Hill and wife, Tami and Brad Mercer and wife, Lisa; three grandchildren, Ashley Dawson, Tessa Dawson and Tyler Dawson; and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sisters, Dixie Frazelle and husband, Carl of Richlands, Laura Jamison and husband, James of Goldsboro, Mary Hill of Goldsboro and JoAnn Davis and husband, J.C. of Goldsboro; her sisters-in-law, Mavis Gurley of Goldsboro and Jane Gurley of Tarboro.

Mrs. Mercer was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Gurley and David E. Gurley, Jr.

The family will receive friends following the service at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at 177 Grant Drive.
