PIKEVILLE -- Marie Vail Rowe, 85, of 1606 Nahunta Road, died Friday at Wake Medical Center.

A native of Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Willie Purvis and Margaret Elizabeth Scott Vail and was married to the late Andrew Irwin Rowe.

Mrs. Rowe was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the church, and the Order of the Eastern Star.

A funeral service will be held 6 p.m. tonight at Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Barry Stallings will officiate. Interment will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Pikeville Cemetery.

Mrs. Rowe is survived by her granddaughter, Marsha Overman Sauls and husband, Frank of Pikeville; great-granddaughter, Kristen Sauls; son-in-law, Worth Overman Jr. of Pikeville; and sister, Ruth Williams of Nags Head.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Rowe was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Rowe Overman; and four sisters, Gladys Goff, Ella Pippin Rich, Winona Wilson, and Perrine Gay.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church, P. O. Box 36, Pikeville, N.C., 27863.

The family will receive friends this evening at the church following the funeral and at other times at the residence of Frank and Marsha Sauls, 1616 Nahunta Road, Pikeville.
