Landis Crawford Brantham Sr., 76, of the Rosewood Community departed this earth to be with Jesus at home with his loved ones by his bedside on July 10, 2006, after a long illness.

Landis was born on September 10, 1929, to Thomas F. Brantham Sr. and Eliza Johnson Brantham. He lived his life in the Rosewood Community where he was a farmer. He retired as a tobacco inspector with the Department of Agriculture, Tobacco Division. He was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church and Wayne Masonic Lodge 112 A.F.&A.M.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Stewart officiating. The family will greet friends in the Westwood United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service and all other times at the home.

Landis is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Luray Watkins Brantham; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Johnny Kearney, his sons and daughters-in-law; Landis Jr. and Debbie Brantham, Alan and Kim Brantham, and Tim and Tracy Brantham, all of Rosewood. He has ten devoted grandchildren, John Kearney, Jennifer Collins and husband, Jason, Clint Brantham and wife, April, Kristy Brantham, Stephanie Brantham, Melanie Short and husband, Robbie, Kayce Brantham, Hayden Brantham, Hannah Brantham, Harley Brantham, and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Judith B. Mitchell of Benson; and a loving pet "Boots".

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Brantham; two brothers, Jerry Brantham and Tom Brantham Jr., six sisters, Lula Brown, Zula Joyner, Zela Brown, Pauline Pulley, Mary Davis, and Julia Brantham.

Pallbearers will be Landis Jr., Alan, Tim, and Clint Brantham, and Johnny and John Kearney.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Westwood United Methodist Church, 130 Short Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
