EDWARD B. MITCHELL

Died Aug. 26, 2006

NEW BERN -- Edward B. Mitchell, 90, died Saturday.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pollock-Best Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Danny Smith officiating. Interment will be at Greenleaf Memorial Park.

He was a long-time volunteer at Religious Community Services of New Bern, a retiree of Western Union with more than 40 years of service and a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church for more than 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tilton Mitchell.

He is survived by a daughter, Martha Mitchell Perry of New Bern; three sons, Edward H. Mitchell Jr. of Charlotte, Mark Stephen Mitchell of Eugene, Ore., and Douglas Mitchell of New Bern; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Pollock-Best Funeral Home.
