GRANTHAM -- Harvey Edward Raynor, 67, of 503 Mills Road, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Raynor was born on April 19, 1939 in Sampson County to the late Archie Raynor Sr. and Martha Ann (Annie) Edwards Raynor. He had worked and retired as a diesel mechanic with RWR Logging and with Georgia Pacific Corporation. Mr. Raynor was also a retired poultry farmer in the Grantham Community.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Gary Bailey and the Rev. Tim Raynor officiating. Burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Raynor is survived by his wife of 47 years, Ellen Lorraine Mills Raynor; his daughter, Cathy Raynor Rose and husband, Bob A. Rose, of Grantham; his sons, Darrell G. Raynor and wife, Sharon Williford Raynor, of Grantham, Charles E. Raynor and special friend, Melissa Rhem Gay, of Goldsboro and Eugene G. Raynor and wife, Peggy McCullen Raynor, of Grantham; eight grandchildren, Courtney Raynor, Bruce Rose, Hope Rose, Madison Raynor, Matthew Raynor, Jessica Raynor, Taylor Raynor and Joshua Raynor; and special friends, Katie and Taylor Gay. He is also survived by his brothers, Huston Raynor, Larry Raynor, Luby Raynor, William Leslie Raynor, John Harold Raynor and Joseph Raynor; and his sister, Doris Ellen Raynor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Archie Raynor Jr., Hubert Raynor and Albert Raynor.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Philip Mayo and Dr. Dalton Dove and the entire staff of Wayne Memorial Hospital ICU Unit for giving Mr. Raynor a fighting chance during his illness.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home.
