NANCY LEE THOMPSON

Seymour Funeral Home - www.seymourfuneralhome.com

February 2, 1914-May 18, 2007

Nancy Catherine "Aunt Cat" Lee Thompson, 93, longtime resident of Mount Olive, died Friday. She was born in Onslow County to the late Oscar and Georgia Lane Lee.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Thompson, three sisters, Faye Lee Duggan, Doris Lee Outlaw, Lona Lee Stafford, and one brother, R. Yates Lee.

She was a member of Mount Olive First Baptist Church for many years. She was a devoted member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and served in Vacation Bible School for 21 years. She was known to family and those in the community as simply "Aunt Cat." She was seen almost daily riding in her white Monte Carlo surveying neighborhood gardens, offering gardening advice but quick to pick up a hoe and do the job herself. She loved gardening and shared her passion with others. She loved animals, we'll never forget her cat, "Fuzzy Q," the outdoors and particularly fishing, but despised above all things a snake. We will miss her opinionated conversations at holidays and family gatherings. She will be forever loved and sorely missed.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by four brothers, Gene Lee of Mount Olive, Ray Lee and Wesley Lee of Clinton, and Richard Lee of Augusta, Ga.; one sister, Georgia Brewer of Clinton, and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Tyndall Funeral Home with Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating. Music will be provided by her niece, Kay Massey. The family will receive friends at Tyndall one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro, N.C.

Memorials may be made to Mount Olive First Baptist Church, 300 N. Chestnut St., N.C. 28365.
