Ethel Hopewell Corbett, 85, went to be with her Lord on Easter Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Ethel was born in Wayne County to the late George C. Hopewell and Rena Best Hopewell. She graduated from New Hope High School and retired from Barry of Goldsboro. She was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and enjoyed preparing and sharing meals and desserts with family and friends. Mike Grady officiating. Interment will follow at Wayne Memorial Park. At other times, the family will be at the home of Jackie and Sandra Waddell, 510 Morgan Trace Lane, Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alton Leo Corbett; sisters, Nora Holloman and Tiny Hopewell; and brothers, Jim Hopewell and Bruce Hope-well.

Ethel is survived by her daughter, Sandra C. Waddell and her husband, Jackie, of Goldsboro; her grandson, Joel Shelton Waddell and wife, Emily, of Goldsboro; a great-granddaughter, Carlee Addison Waddell, expected to be born today; her sister, Ruth Mozingo and husband, Melvin, of Goldsboro; a special niece, Virginia Hare of Goldsboro; and many other nieces and nephews.
