She was an excellent cook, seamstress and homemaker. She was an avid gardener, beautifying her home and yard. She was known for her large vegetable garden, which was her passion for most of her life until she developed Parkinson's disease in the past 10 years. She taught her children to love nature and all God's creatures. She lovingly cared for her family pets, Lady, Gypsy, Toby and Mother Cat. She was always there to serve anyone in need, never tiring or complaining.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Inez Oates Hines; sisters, Margaret Scott, Kathleen Hatcher, Signa Drewry, Georganna Burch and Herby Jones; nephews, David Burch, Freddy and Benny Sutton; nieces, Gail Sutton and Camille Bumgardner.

The family would like to thank Dr. Irene Hamrick for her care and kindness since Sallie was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Also, the family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Greg Knapp for his care and concern during these difficult last days. Also, thanks to the fine staff in South 211 and Focus Care at PCMH.
