BENTONVILLE COMMUNITY -- Bonnie Sauls Thornton was born April 27, 1944, to Sidney and Clara Lee Sauls of Stantonsburg, N.C.

The funeral service, with visitation following, will be held at West and Dunn Funeral Home of Newton Grove Thursday, June 19, at 7 p.m.

She was the only daughter born to the family of six children.

She was a student of the first graduating class of Charles B. Aycock High School.

Mrs. Thornton was the owner and operator of "Country Cuts and Curls" located at her home in the Bentonville community. This was her passion.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Russell and Carlton Sauls.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years, J.M. Thornton of the home; two daughters, Sandy Killian and Amy Thornton and Jimmy Faircloth; and one grandson, Brian Killian, all from the Bentonville Township.

She is survived by three siblings, Ray Sauls and wife, Becky, of Lynchburg, Va., Billy Sauls and wife, Wilma, of Morrisville, N.C., and the Rev. Don Sauls and wife, Marie, of Goldsboro, N.C.

She leaves numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The Thornton family would like to extend our gratitude for all of the visits, phone calls, cards, food and flowers. Also, to our employers for your understanding and overall concern for us. Each and every one of you held a very special place in her heart.

We also want to give a very special thanks to Dr. Robert Wehbie, Beverly Neeley and the entire staff of the Cancer Centers of NC. Thank you for all of the special attention, returned calls and the overall care and compassion you have shown to our family.

Memories of her will forever fill our hearts with love and joy.
