MOUNT OLIVE -- Claro Brown Oliver Best, 90, went to meet her Savior Monday afternoon. She was at home surrounded by family when she quietly departed.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour prior to the service, and at the home at other times.

Mrs. Best, daughter of the late Christopher and Letha Sutton Brown, was born and raised in Goldsboro. She married Council Wooten Oliver Jr. and moved to Mount Olive in 1937. She worked for many years with her husband in their family business.

After the death of her first husband, she married Herbert Best of Warsaw.

She particularly enjoyed being a homemaker and a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Her family will always remember her loving spirit, her generosity and the many delicious meals she prepared. She greatly enjoyed singing in her church choir, reading and playing bridge with her friends.

Along with her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Shelton Brown and James Brown and her two sisters, Esther Roberts and Doreen Musgrave, and their spouses.

She is survived by her two children, Rebecca Oliver of the home and Council Wooten Oliver III and his wife, Joy, of Durham; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or First Baptist Church Music Program, P. O. Box 239, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
