WILSON -- Gene A. Kent, 60, 4021 Saxby Lane, passed away Thursday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. Paul Church of Christ, 4009 Lake Wilson Road, Wilson, with bishop Chester Aycock officiating. The family will gather at Rest Haven Cemetery at 11 a.m. for the interment.
Mr. Kent served his country in the United States Army where he was awarded the purple heart medal.
He was a graduate of Dillard High School's class of 1967.
Loving memories of Gene Kent are cherished by his mother, Marilyn Kent of Goldsboro; two sisters, Linda K. Kent and Carolyn Irving both of Goldsboro; two brothers, Carl Ray Kent and Harvey L. Kent (Laura) both of Atlanta,; four aunts, Ressie Kent and Lillie Cooper both of Wilson and Larzine Ben and Alberta Wade both of Baltimore, Md.; four uncles, George Cooper of Wilson, Ray Wade of Baltimore, Md., Bobby Kent of Durham and Harvey R. Kent of Florida; and a host of other special relatives and friends including devoted friend, Majorie Sizemore of Wilson.
A viewing will be held Wednesday from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St. S.W. The family will receive friends at the residence where they will also assemble one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Wilson.
