William "Bill" Casey Sutton, 86, 1318- B Park Av., died Sunday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Private graveside services will be held Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Park, and there will be a service to celebrate the life of Mr. Sutton at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with Dr. Glenn Phillips and the Rev. Scott Thrailkill officiating.
A native of Sampson County, he was the son of the late Richard Hubert and Fannie Casey Sutton.
Mr. Sutton worked as golf course superintendent at Walnut Creek Country Club and was a sales representative for Eastern Turf Equipment Co.
He was a member of First Baptist Church and was a founding member and past president of Eastern Turf Grass Association.
Mr. Sutton served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife, Ila West Sutton; sons, Rick Sutton and wife, Karen, of Pikeville and Mac Sutton and wife, Jeanette, of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Jeff and Casey Sutton and Angela Shotwell and husband, Blake; great-grandchildren, Kate and Anneliese Shotwell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to First Baptist Church, elevator fund, 125 S. John St., 27530, or Eastern Turf Golf Association, P.O. Box 8104, Wilson, NC, 27896.
