DEACON O'BERRY BIZZELL

Deacon O'Berry Bizzell, 74, of 983 Dollard Town Road, graciously departed his earthly life on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday at 11 a.m. at United American FWB General Tabernacle, 1011 Dr. J. E. Reddick Circle, Kinston, with Dr. J.E. Reddick officiating. Interment will follow in the Jerusalem FWB Church Cemetery, 395 Jerusalem Church Road, Seven Springs.
A wake will be held, one hour prior, on Monday, in the United American FWB General Tabernacle 10 until 10:55 a.m. with the family present to receive friends and other family members.
O'Berry was born in Wayne County on Nov. 23, 1936, to the late Leola Campbell Bizzell and the Garfield Bizzell Sr.
He attended Wayne County Public Schools in Mount Olive.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Bizzell, and his brother, Arthur Britton.
He was a member at Jerusalem FWB Church in Seven Springs, where he served as chairman of the deacon and trustee boards, president of the usher board, church treasurer and custodian. Later he moved his membership to Mount Calvary FWB Church in LaGrange, where he served in the capacity of deacon, trustee, male chorus and usher board member until his health no longer permitted. Additionally, he was a past member of Best Grove Masonic Lodge No. 392.
Deacon Bizzell leaves to cherish his loving memory, four children, Wanda B. Parker of Winston-Salem, Joseph A. Bizzell (Sharron) of Mount Olive, Tonya R. Bizzell and JoAnn Bizzell both of Raleigh; five grandchildren; six great-granddaughters; four great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Eldress Clara L. Grady of Dudley, Maggie L. Hasty (James) of Far Rockaway, N.Y., Minnie B. Burns (Herman) of Charlotte, and Garfield Bizzell Jr. (Gloria) of Mount Olive; four godchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
At other times, the family will receive friends and other family members at 983 Dollard Town Road, where family and friends will also assemble, one hour prior to the funeral at 9 a.m., in preparation for the funeral procession.
