LAGRANGE -- The Rev. Joe Burton Masters, 83, LaGrange, entered into heaven Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011.

Rev. Masters was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Madison County, Ky., to the late John Milton Masters and Zoba Betty Lackey Masters.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Dorothy Breaden Masters.

Rev. Masters was a veteran of the United States Army, and retired from church ministry following 38 years of service in 1993. For 28 of those years, Joe pastored Bernie Alliance Church in Bernie, Mo.

A talented craftsman and handyman, Joe enjoyed playing the fiddle, bluegrass music, nature and bird watching.

A service of remembrance will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at 2 p.m. at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home in Nicholasville, Ky. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

Rev. Masters is survived by two children, Charles Clifford Masters and wife, Kathi, of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Kathleen Sue Kennedy and husband, Mark, of LaGrange; brother, Clayton Masters of London, Ky.; two sisters, Lois Cobb of Nicholasville, Ky., and Sula Masters of Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren, Dacia Masters, Dana Masters Chippindale, John Mark Kennedy, Joseph Kennedy and Sara Kennedy Hall; and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange and Thursday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Hager and Cundiff Funeral Home.
