CAROLYN MERVIN

Jan. 2, 1964-Jan. 16, 2012

Carolyn Mervin was born Jan. 2, 1964, in Goldsboro to Peggy King Mervin and the late Rev. Henry C. Mervin Jr. She left this life on earth to be with her heavenly father Jan. 16, 2012.

Carolyn attended Eastern Wayne Elementary, Greenwood Middle and Eastern Wayne High School, all in Goldsboro. She continued her education by attending Wayne Community College, St. Augustine College, East Carolina University and North Carolina Wesleyan College. She earned her bachelor's degree in the spring of 2010 from North Carolina Wesleyan College in information technology.

Carolyn was a very caring and loving person. She found humor in many things and was very comical. Many times, after laughing or chuckling about something, she oftentimes used the phrase, "say what?"

Carolyn was employed by Cherry Hospital in Goldsboro for at least 13 years, where she worked in the capacity of a healthcare technician and a ward clerk.

Carolyn had a genuine personality that affected people in such a way that made it a pleasure to know her. She was loved by all, especially her family, friends and co-workers.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving daughter, Shanita Mervin of Goldsboro; a loving mother, Peggy King Mervin of Goldsboro; two brothers, Johnnie (Betty) Mervin of Virginia Beach, Va., and Marvin Mervin of Garner; three sisters, Yvonne (Dell) Mervin of Goldsboro, Gloria (Calvin) Gilchrist of Kinston and Sabrena (James) Blake of Durham; two grandsons, Brandon and Michael Mervin; a goddaughter, Mignon Cobb; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home and Cremations Inc., 401 N. William St., Goldsboro.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Branch Memorial Tabernacle, 500 Gulley St., Goldsboro.

Following the services in the sanctuary, Ms. Mervin's delicate temple, along with her adored family, will be escorted to King Family Cemetery in Kinston for interment rites.

Ms. Mervin's earthen vessel is peacefully resting at E.M. Matthews Funeral Home, where the Mervin and connected families are receiving prestigious service.
