Mrs. Dorothy Virginia Jones, 78, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Grandma Dot," 392 Piedmont Airline Road, Goldsboro, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, at Willow Creek Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Goldsboro.

Dorothy was born in Lenoir County Nov. 13, 1933, to the late Mr. Will Jones and the late Mrs. Josephine Cobb Jones

She received her early education in the public schools of Lenoir County.

Dorothy was employed with the Sleepy Creek Turkey Hatchery prior to her retirement.

Funeral service will be conducted Friday, Aug. 10, 2012, at 1 p.m. at New Birth United Holy Church, 3308 Banks School Road in Kinston. Pastor Ronald Hagans will officiate. Interment will follow in Parrot Cemetery, 2175 E. U.S. 70 in Kinston.

Also, a public viewing will be held Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories two daughters, Scarlet Pridgen and Lena (John) Parks; a son, James (Sally) Bryant; four stepdaughters, Linda Faye (Samuel) Johnson, Janice Jones, Bertha Brooks and Emma McCrae; five stepsons, Ronald (Jean) Jones, Nathaniel (Lorice) Jones, Henry (Sadie) Jones and Leonard and Carnell Jones; a sister, Deola Bryant; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will assemble at the residence of Mrs. Scarlet Pridgen, 392 Piedmont Airline Road, Goldsboro, an hour prior to the funeral at 11:50 a.m. in preparation for the funeral procession.
