PIKEVILLE -- Elton Daniel "Cracker Jack" Pate, 52, passed away suddenly Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, Va.

Elton was born in Wayne County May 30, 1960, to Carolyn Lancaster Pate and A.H. " Buddy" Pate Jr.

He was a truck driver with D and B Trucking.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ira Williford officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Anderson Pate; daughters, Carolyn Nicole Pate of Havelock, Lindsey P. McClelland and David of Jacksonville, Samantha Mozingo of Garner, Heather Reid of Havelock and Tabatha Lorenzo of Pikeville, and grandchildren, Tyson Dickens, R.J. Shoulars, Aiden McClelland, Mariah Mozingo and Dylan Mozingo.

He is also survived by his sister, Diane Pate Hinnant of Wendell; nephew, Jason Hinnant; and niece, Alison Hinnant.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
