MOUNT OLIVE -- Elizabeth "Lib" Summerlin Hines, 104, passed away Thursday, March 21, 2013, at her home surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Hines is survived by a son, Reginald R. Hines Jr. and wife, Judy, of Mount Olive; three daughters, Shirley H. Lazorik and husband, Bob, of Mount Olive, Pat H. Houtz of Raleigh and Casey H. Sutton and husband, Lloyd, of Mount Olive; 13 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Born May 15, 1908, Mrs. Hines was preceded in death by her parents, George Edgar and Emma Aaron Summerlin; her husband, Reginald R. Hines Sr.; a son-in-law, Fred W. Houtz Jr.; a great-grandson, Blayne Brown; a brother, Edgar Summerlin Jr.; and a sister, Pattie S. Reaves.

Mrs. Hines graduated from Mount Olive High School in 1926, and attended Woman's College in Greensboro studying music.

She was the oldest living member of First Baptist Church of Mount Olive, where she shared her time and talents as pianist and organist for more than 40 years.

In her youth, she played piano for silent movies as well as radio stations in Goldsboro.

A homemaker with many interests, she enjoyed playing bridge with friends, watching sports on TV, painting and traveling.

Funeral services will be held at Tyndall Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, with the Rev. Craig Hansen and Dr. Dennis Atwood officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Although there will be no formal visitation, the family will greet friends at the graveside following the service, and other times at the home.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving companionship shown to Mom by Audrey Lane and 3-HC, especially Judy Carroll, R.N., Carrie Brown, R.N., and Debbie Wall, S.W. Thank you from those of us who saw your kindness and care towards Mom.
