He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Patricia G. Pittman; his father, Kincheon E. Pittman; mother, Elizabeth A. Pittman; and brother, Robert E. Pittman.
Kay was a devoted and beloved member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, choir member, cast member of the Easter Drama and faithful servant of Christ.
He attended North Carolina State University, where he played baseball, and graduated from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) of Wilson, N.C., with a degree in business.
He used his degree in business to be successful with not only his career choices, but also serving within his community and church.
After 35 years with the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank as senior vice president, he retired to consult and audit independently for agriculture services such as Farm Credit and the Agricultural Credit Association in North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri.
His career journey with the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank led him to live in Columbia, S.C., New Orleans, La., and Clinton, Miss.
Finally, in 1997, Kay and Patricia moved back to his wife's home and community in Williamston, N.C.
While in his "retirement" days, he still continued as a consultant.
He was an avid golf player, who enjoyed time on the course with family and friends at Roanoke Country Club and with the Northeast Senior Tour.
He currently served as a board of trustee for Martin Community College, chairman of Martin County Reevaluation Task Force and a Farm Life Ruritan member.
In previous years, he served as a tutor for Math Mates within the local schools, as past president and board member for Roanoke Country Club and a board member of Tideland Mental Health and the Albermarle Mental Health boards.
