Aug. 7, 1938-Feb. 5, 2018

Rajarao Mattegunta, 79, went to his heavenly home Monday, Feb. 5, 2018, at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Homegoing services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. at New Life Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends following the service.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Springfield Cemetery in Sykesville, Md.

Mr. Mattegunta was born in India Aug. 7, 1938.

He graduated with a master's degree in civil engineering from India.

Mr. Mattegunta later went on to become the owner and president of MAS Contractors.

He and his wife gave to many charities throughout his hometown and the world. They supported many families by bringing them to America. His generosity will never be forgotten.

Mr. Mattegunta was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Sykesville, Md., before moving to Goldsboro. He then moved his membership to New Life Baptist Church in Goldsboro.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother in Christ.

He is survived by his two loving daughters, Dr. Suneetha Mattegunta of Goldsboro and Agnes Mattegunta, RN, MSN, of Raleigh, and one grandson, Aamir Noel Castelino.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Mattegunta was preceded in death by his wife, Dr. Ethel Malathi Mattegunta.

The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
