Oct. 2, 1937-March 11, 2018

Retired United States Air Force Technical Sgt. Ronald Raymond Meng Sr., 80, peacefully passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., Oct. 2, 1937, to the late Raymond Charles Meng and Leota Pearl Carithers Meng.

He served as a radar equipment engineer in the United States Air Force.

A service to celebrate and honor Ronald's life will be held Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Harry officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Inurnment with full military honors will be held at a later date at Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, S.D.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth (nee White) Meng of Goldsboro, and children and spouses, Barbara Lee "Barbie Doll" Brown and husband, Paul Howard Brown Sr., of Troy, Ill., Julie Louise "Half-Pint" Lentes and husband, Tom Lentes, of Terre Haute, Ind., Ronald "Buck" Raymond Meng Jr. and wife, Raquel "Rock" Meng, of Severn, Md., and Richard Charles "Bear" Meng of Wasta, S.D.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Paul "P.J." Brown Jr., Jessica "Jessie" Swenson, Robert "Bobby" Brown, Jennifer Louise Gill, Meghan Marie Lentes, Laura Ann Ross, Tom Gerard Lentes Jr., Ian Andrew Meng, Alexa Eva Meng and Kelsey Jo Meng; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh, Logan, Michael, Katelyn, Matthew, Danniel, Abigail, Zeph, Eli and Penny; a sister and brother-in-law, Monica Keeler and husband, Marvin Keeler, of Wichita, Kan.; and special friends, Gil and Stu Levy of Cumbria, England.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Frank and Mildred White.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Palliative Care Unit at Vidant Medical Center for its exemplary care during Ronald's final days.
