<p>MOUNT OLIVE -- Funeral services for Kirby Lee Bond, 52, who died Thursday, will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home chapel, with visitation afterwards, with the Rev. Coy Brock officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Riverview Memorial Park near Wallace.
</p>

<p>He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeremy and Sandra Bond of Goldsboro, Jonathan and Jessica Bond, Joshua Bond and Jaime Bond all of Mount Olive; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Jannah, Jocelyn and Jacob; a brother and sister-in-law, James Elmo and Brenda Bond of Surf CIty; three sisters and four brothers-in-law, Juanita and Mitchell Padgett of Willard, Naomi and Mike Beacham of Burgaw and Rebecca and Bobby Herring of Mount Olive and Jimmy O'Briant of Smithfield.
</p>

<p>He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond Bruce Bond and Lyda Mae McCoy Bond, and siblings, Raymond Bond, Clifton Bond, Loyce Bond and Joyce O'Briant.
</p>

<p>Kenneth Harold Gurley, 60, passed away Wednesday evening at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park with military honors. 
</p>

<p>Kenneth was born in Wayne County June 24, 1949, to the late David and Pauline Johnson Gurley.  
</p>

<p>He had worked many years with Bonitz Insulation.  
</p>

<p>Kenneth served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
</p>

<p>Kenneth is survived by his sons, Shaun Gurley and wife, Kim, of Pikeville, Jeff Gurley and wife, Angela, of Pikeville and Tommy Gurley of Pikeville; his grandchildren, Amber Gurley and Hayden Gurley; his stepgrandchildren, Will McLamb, Elizabeth McLamb and Macy McLamb; his brothers, Ralph Gurley of Goldsboro, David Earl Gurley of Goldsboro and Ronnie Gurley of Pikeville; and his sisters, Alma Newsome and Lou N. Sasser both of Goldsboro.
</p>

<p>In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Walt Gurley, Rob Gurley and Wayne Gurley, and his sister, Gladys Grimes.
</p>

<p>The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 138 Daw Pate Road in Goldsboro.
</p>

<p>Funeral services for Nina Rowe Lewis will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Saints Delight United Holy Church, 976, LaGrange Road in LaGrange in Parkstown community, with elder Devin C. Pickett Sr., pastor, delivering the eulogy and elder Antonio Blow presiding. 
</p>

<p>Mrs. Lewis was united in holy matrimony to the late J.B. Lewis and to this union eight children were born.
</p>

<p>"Sister" as she was affectionaly called, is survived by her children, Melvin (Shirley) Lewis of Goldsboro, James Mack (Loretta) Lewis of Snow Hill, L. Faye Lewis of Goldsboro, Raphell (Barbara) Lewis of Dudley and Samuel (Clarice) Lewis of Dudley; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two godsons, Dea Marive Broadie and Bro. Thurman Grant; one son-in-law, Dennis Brant; one special friend, Maria Gardnell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
</p>

<p>A viewing will be held tonight from 2 to 7 with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. 
</p>

<p>Wilbert James Vernon, 82, passed away Thursday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. 
</p>

<p>Wilbert was born in Duplin County April 19, 1927, to the late Leonard Vernon and Vivie Pauline Knowles Vernon. He was married to the late Ruby Vernon, who preceded him in death March 6, 2009.  
</p>

<p>Wilbert retired from Myco Supply Co. and had worked with Eastern Distributors for 12 years and with Merritt-Holland for 23 years.  
</p>

<p>He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.
</p>

<p>Wilbert is survived by his daughter, Kathy Johnson and husband, Jesse, of Goldsboro; his sons, Jimmy Ray Vernon and wife, Judy, of Goldsboro and William Earl (Billy) Vernon and wife, Karen, of Parker, Texas; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his brother, Morris Clifton Vernon of Manessas, Va.; and his sisters, Eloise Kleinert of Goldsboro, Mary Elizabeth Vernon of Clinton and Daisy Herring of Clinton.
</p>

<p>In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Eddie Vernon and a daughter, Deborah Kaye Vernon.
</p>

<p>The family will receive friends tonight at Seymour Funeral Home from 7 to 9.
</p>

<p>Mary Elizabeth "Polly" Smith Easley, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
</p>

<p>Graveside services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Joann Turner officiating. 
</p>

<p>Polly was born in Wayne County Aug. 29, 1919, to the late Frederick Graham Smith and Louise Peele Smith.  
</p>

<p>She was married to the late Jackson Robert Easley Jr.  
</p>

<p>Polly was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.  She loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother, however, her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren.
</p>

<p>She is survived by two sons, Roger Michael Easley and wife, Lynn, of Goldsboro and Donald Graham Easley and wife, Laura, of Greenville, and four grandchildren, Adam Michael Easley and wife Elizabeth, Cameron Helms Easley, Katlyn Margaret Easley and Kyle Graham Easley.
</p>

<p>In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackson Robert Easley III, and brothers, Frederick Graham Smith Jr. and James Morgan Smith.
</p>

<p>The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Doris Atkinson, LaShonda Atkinson, Linda Thompson and Beatrice May for the love and care shown to Polly during her illness.   They also wish to thank the staff at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
</p>

<p>The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at 1810 E. Beech St. in Goldsboro.
</p>

<p>Mr. Hooks is survived by his mother, Ruth Hooks Aycock and husband, Royal of Fremont; one son, Rusty G. Hooks of Fremont; one daughter, Kimberly Hooks of Fremont; and one brother, Danny Hooks of Fremont; and a granddaughter, Hannah Sutton.
</p>

<p>FREMONT -- Dennis Jackson, 92, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home &amp; Crematory in Goldsboro, with visitation afterwards. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
</p>

<p>Mr. Jackson was the son of the late Willis and Fannie Hill Jackson, born in Greene County Oct. 5, 1917. 
</p>

<p>He was a member of Faro Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as past deacon. 
</p>

<p>Mr. Jackson was a retired farmer from Fremont and veteran of the United States Army during World War II.
</p>

<p>He is survived by three sons, Gerald Jackson and wife, Judith, of Wilson, Jimmy Jackson and wife, Sarah, of Fayetteville and Kenneth Jackson and wife, Kimberly, of Greenville; one daughter, Dianne Hooks and husband, Martin, of Goldsboro; 11 grandchildren, David Jackson, Terri Hill, Julie Jackson, Greg Jackson, Susan Jackson, Eric Hooks, Shannon Horton and Megan, Jayden, Kendall and Kristen Jackson; and nine great-grandchildren.
</p>

<p>In addition to his parents, Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Lee Forehand Jackson; one son, Keith Jackson; one brother, Walter Jackson; and three sisters, Annie Jackson, Martha Jackson and Teddie Jackson.
</p>

<p>Funeral services for Nina Rowe Lewis will be held Saturday at Saints Delight United Holy Church, 976, LaGrange Road in LaGrange in Parkstown community, with elder Devin C. Pickett Sr., pastor, delivering the eulogy and elder Antonio Blow presiding. 
</p>

<p>Mrs. Lewis was united in holy matrimony to the late J.B. Lewis and to this union eight children were born.
</p>

<p>"Sister" as she was affectionaly called, is survived by her children, Melvin (Shirley) Lewis of Goldsboro, James Mack (Loretta) Lewis of Snow Hill, L. Faye Lewis of Goldsboro, Raphell (Barbara) Lewis of Dudley and Samuel (Clarice) Lewis of Dudley; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; two godsons, Dea Marive Broadie and Bro. Thurman Grant; one son-in-law, Dennis Brant; one special friend, Maria Gardnell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
</p>

<p>A viewing will be held Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel. 
</p>
