April 11, 1986-May 18, 2013

Joshua Logan Scott, 27, passed away suddenly Saturday in Greensboro.

Joshua was born in Wayne County April 11, 1986, to James L. "Jimmy" Scott and June Weaver Scott of Goldsboro.

He was a graduate of Rosewood High School, and worked with his dad in the family business, Scott Construction Co., before he was injured in a work accident.

Joshua's passion was golf, and if it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the links sharing shots and laughter with his dad and his friends.

Joshua was a miracle and a blessing from the moment he was born. He shaped lives of family, friends and random strangers in ways that made them into better people.

His smile was like sunshine. His eyes sparkled with light. A quiet touch or hug would always let you know how you were loved. His words were a constant reminder that he always thought of loved ones.

The family intends to honor Joshua by making certain that the joyful spirit and laughter in this family returns in full force. They understand that this effort will require time and the help of their extended family and many dear and wonderful friends. The family finds hope in the fact that, though Joshua was surrounded by love in his life, he is now experiencing the perfect love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

A service celebrating Joshua's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Rosewood First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Larry Bostian and the Rev. E.C. Mattocks officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter and the apple of his eye, Jazilyn Scott; wife, Amber Scott; brother, Ledell Scott and wife, Mandy, of Goldsboro; sister, Lisa Knoll and husband, Dave, of Goldsboro; and nieces, Kalya Scott, Kimberly Scott and Jenny Knoll.

He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Buddy Scott of Goldsboro, Vernon and Claudette Scott of Lincolnton, Gary and Brenda Scott of Goldsboro, Ralph and Grey Weaver Jr. of Goldsboro, Nancy and Gary Lipa of Goldsboro, Lisa and Glenn Hartley of Goldsboro and Sandra and Wiley Thompson of Goldsboro; and his stepgrandmother, Emma Jean Scott of Goldsboro.

Joshua was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ralph and Dorothy Hollowell Weaver, and his paternal grandparents, W.L. and MayBell Sutton Scott.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be given in Joshua's memory to Rosewood First Baptist Church, 562 N.C. 581 South, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the home of his parents, 1901 E. Walnut St., Goldsboro.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
