            <description><![CDATA[

<p>DUDLEY -- The funeral service for Blanche Marie Bowden will be held Saturday at noon at Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church, with elder Anthony Davis Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.
</p>

<p>Visitation will be today from 3 to 5 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
</p>

<p>The funeral procession will line up at the home of Maurice Green, 321 Gordon St. in Mount Olive, at 11:15 a.m.
</p>

<p> <em>Nov. 12, 1923-Nov. 4, 2009</em>
</p>

<p>Betty Lou Hartley Braden, 85, passed away Wednesday afternoon at Wayne Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home, with the Rev. Adam Seate officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. 
</p>

<p>Betty was born in Johnston County Nov. 12, 1923, to the late Jessie Compton Hartley and Sallie Daughtry Hartley.  
</p>

<p>She had worked with Branch Banking and Trust Company for 35 years and retired as head teller.  
</p>

<p>Betty was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
</p>

<p>Betty is survived by her husband, Burl Braden; her daughter, Sheila Thompson and husband, James, of Goldsboro; her son, Jerry Bean and wife, Donna, of Goldsboro; her sister, Letty Taylor and husband, Sonny, of Pikeville; and several nieces and nephews.
</p>

<p>In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Stephen Troy Bean; her sisters, Sadie Godwin and Irene Godwin; and her brothers, Arthur Hartley, Jake Hartley, Sam Hartley and George Hartley.
</p>

<p>Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
</p>

<p>The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home, 2006 E. Mulberry St. in Goldsboro.
</p>

<p>TEACHEY -- Lessie Pearl Dixon Bryant, 75, 107 Mary Bryant Road, died Monday at Pender Memorial Hospital in Burgaw.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held at Rose Hill Funeral Home Chapel, 472 Wells Town Road in Rose Hill, Saturday at 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Reginald A. Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Leaks Bryant Cemetery in Teachey.
</p>

<p>Her survivors include her husband, Edward Odell Bryant of Teachey; three sons; and one daughter.
</p>

<p>Visitation of family and friends will be held tonight from 6 to 7 at Rose Hill Funeral Home. 
</p>

<p>James L. Darden, 63, 119 W. Hooks River Road, died Tuesday evening.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held Saturday at noon at Darden Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, with pastor Carlton Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
</p>

<p>He is survived by his wife, Leona Darden, and 12 childen.
</p>

<p>Visitation will be today from 4 to 8:30 p.m. with the famly present to receive friends from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
</p>

<p>The family will receive friends at the residence where they will also assemble in preparation for the funeral procession.

<p>Jimmie Rodger Forrest, 67, passed away Tuesday at Kinston Rehabilitation Center.

<p>A homegoing service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in LaGrange, with Dr. Michael A. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in LaGrange.
</p>

<p>He is survived by his wife, Laureen T. Forrest of Charlotte; daughter, Danica Marciante of Charlotte; granddaughter, Jina Marciante of Charlotte; five sisters, Ina Best, Velma Harris, Elnora Ellis and Carrie Wootson all of LaGrange and Carolyn Barrett of Goldsboro; five brothers, Isaac Forrest Jr. of Irvington, N.J., Samuel Batts Jr., Ernest Batts of LaGrange, George Batts of Kinston and Manford Batts of Snow Hill.
</p>

<p>Visitation will be held today from 2 to 8 p.m. at LaGrange Funeral Services.
</p>

<p>WARSAW -- Katie W. Hand, 89, 209 Bartlett Road, died Monday at her home.
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church Bowdens, with the Rev. Harold Boykins officiating. Burial will follow in Bowdens Cemetery.
</p>

<p>Born in Duplin County, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester Williams and Bettie Smith Bryant.
</p>

<p>Five children survive.
</p>

<p>A viewing will be held today from 4 to 6 p.m. at Garris Funeral Home Chapel, and an inspirational wake with the family present will be held tonight from 7 to 9 at First Baptist Church Bowdens.
</p>

<p>KINSTON -- Frances Rouse Harper, 85, retired RN,  Woodington community, died at home Thursday.  
</p>

<p>Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Howard-Carter Funeral Home, with the Rev. Claude Wilson officiating.
</p>

<p>She is survived by four daughters and their husbands,  Nancy and Benton Satterfield of Goldsboro, Barbara and Mike Novicki of Goldsboro, Susan and Billy Glover of Kinston and Frances and Michael Gooden of Goldsboro; grandchildren, Brian "Moose" Whitfield, Clif and Sara Whitfield, Josh Novicki and Gena Walker, Alan Novicki, Will Glover and Laura and Scott Rouse; and great-grandchildren, Layla Lewis, Mayah Webster, Ben Rouse, Hallie Rouse and Annsleigh Rouse.
</p>

<p>She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur and Lillie Belle Rouse of LaGrange; husband, Warren "Bud" Harper; and sister, Mary R. Albritton. 
</p>

<p>The family will receive visitors following the service.
</p>

<p>Memorials may be made to Woodington United Methodist Church, 3994 NC 258 south, Kinston, N.C., 28504, or to Lenoir County SPCA, 2455 Rouse Road, Kinston, N.C., 28504.
</p>

<p>In addition to his parents, Zachary is survived by his paternal grandparents, Joe and Nina Wiggs of Rocky Mount, and his maternal grandparents, Richard and Stephanie Mills of Youngsville.

<p>DUDLEY -- William Beeler, 56, 1693 Old Mount Olive Hwy., surrounded by his loving family, departed this busy walk of life Monday evening at Pitt Memorial Hospital.

<p>He will be eulogized Friday at 2 p.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, with bishop Alton Smith officiating. His mortal frame will be laid to rest with military honors in Wayne Memorial Park.
</p>

<p>Precious memories are cherished by his devoted wife, Peggy G. Beeler of the home; his sons, William A. Coley of Goldsboro and Iriving Beeler of Raleigh; and four grandchildren.
</p>

<p>Visitation will be tonight from 2:30 to 6 at McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries of Goldsboro.
</p>
